「NetBeans 12.0」は 「Java 14」 や 「Java 13」 で導入された最新のJava言語機能をサポートしたほか、「Maven」または「Gradle」ベースの「Java EE 8」Webアプリケーションを開発する機能が追加されたほか、「Payara」「WildFly」のサポートが組み込まれるなど、引き続きJava開発機能の強化が図られた。
